Great photos but publisher needs to fix pps150 and 212 where pictures do not match the birds description(there maybe others). I find photos to be more useful in helping remember critters and birds and so I found this small book very helpful in preparation for traveling to Ecuador

Katrin Barth, born in 1966, has been a teacher of elementary education for many years. Uttom Chowdhury works as a Consultant in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in Bedfordshire and London. He was previously Visiting Professor at the University of Bedfordshire. He has run several groups for parents of children with Tourette Syndrome and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. His clinical and research interests include Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorders and parental experiences of looking after children with neuro-developmental disorders. Mary Robertson is Emeritus Professor of Neuropsychiatry at University College London and Visiting Professor and Honorary Consultant Neuropsychiatrist at St George's Hospital and Medical School, where she is a member of the Tourette Syndrome (TS) clinic. She has authored four and edited two books, and over 300 medical publications. In 2006, she was awarded the Doctor of Science in Medicine Degree. She is Honorary Medical Advisor to TS Associations in Canada, Germany, Ireland, Italy and the UK, and a member of the American Tourette Syndrome Association International Genetic Consortium. She regularly gives lectures nationally and internationally, and has been an advisor to the World Health Organization on stress in neurological disorders and TS. She has been awarded numerous research prizes and grants and has supervised higher degrees on TS. She has appeared in the media about TS. In 1976, she sailed in a Transatlantic Yacht Race and a circumnavigation in square rigged sailing ship. She has had over 80 poems and 5 photographs published.

I purchased this book to use as a resource for my son's friends and school. I am extremely disappointed with the illustrations and how they depict the people in the book that have TS. All illustrations of the people with TS in the book show them as deformed, making funny faces, less hair, and/or longer or shorter arms. It is very unfortunate because this book may have decent content but I can't get past the way they depict people with TS. Shame on you for putting this out there. Our loved ones have enough of a difficult time trying to change the stigma already associated with TS.

This book was great for helping all of the family members start to understand what is happening with my daughter.

Our son did not care for this book. Part of the issue is that it is written in eastern european language. It was hard for him to understand the language.

Honestly this book took me by surprise. When I first open the book, you could read right away that it wasn't going to be about Sora and Shiro. Keeping an open mind, I continue on to see where it was going. Once the book start going, it took off fast. The way the writer described the setting could make you shut your eyes and imagine actually being there. Unlike how the other books were light and kept somewhat clean; this volume pull all the stops out and told a story how the world used to be during the eternal war. This was an amazing written book that could hopefully be made into a movie (Hoping high for it). If you like the series I recommend this book highly or if you want to pick up the series too. Great props to the writer for make this book hit hard on a emotional level more that I would ever thought it could!!

Mr Kamiya excells at making me laugh through my tears, This tale being a significant example. The best thing is its a stand alone that I can press on my friends without the necessity of handing them a stack of my precious books! Some of them are'nt e-readers. I have always been super fond of Jabril(the eccentric and egocentric ultimut war-weapon )and while restrained and frustrated in the present time as she is it was truly terrifying to get this glimps of her true face. I am consoling myself with the knowledge that fate lent a hand to bring the world to the relatively happy place its in now.jabril's battle with shwi ended up bringing in the whole of ex machina on the side of humanity while sidelining herself from the climactic battle with artosh. She badly needs a dash of humility though. Will she be able to see that her actions were instrumental in her God's loss and Tet's win? I hope so; it would help her grow up if it does'nt break her heart.

When i first heard about the movie, i complained that i don't want a side story, i want more Sora and Shiro. Then i heard that the sixth book will be that same prequel... I wasn't happy but still, it's ngnl so i will read it. I AM MIND BLOWN. Not only by the skilled writing and introduction of new elements to the main story, this is a story of it's own and it needs to be read. Now my personal feelings: f***ing amazing. Now i can't wait to see the movie.

I love this book, it is a classic and well worth the read whether you consider yourself a "christian" or not, so when I saw this version for 99Â¢, including the audio narration, I was thrilled and purchased it right away. Then I started to read it, in the prologue there is a note from some priest who has taken it upon himself to pare down the book by removing all of the "sermons" that he believes slow the story down. While that is fine for some people who may prefer this pared down version, it should be advertised up front as "abridged", which it is not. Had I known I was getting a much less meaningful version of the book, I would never have purchased it, which is why I rated it as 1 star.

Pilgrim's Progress is a classic that is just as powerful today as it was when it was first written in 1678. If you are like me though, you have struggled with the reading of this beloved book. The way we speak now has changed a lot through the years and sometimes picking up a book from a different time period can be challenging to read.I am excited to tell you about the new publication of Pilgrim's Progress. It is updated, in Modern English, but still has the original illustrations. This made such a huge difference for me. What an enjoyable read it was! I did find myself, especially at the beginning, comparing it to the original text. I wanted to see for myself how much it was changed and amazingly, very little. It's tweaked just enough to make it easy to read for today's readers.Another very unique feature about this new publication is the Bible verses that are added to the text. I'm not talking about just a Bible reference either. Entire verses including where they are found in the Bible are throughout the whole book. For example:In my dream, I saw a man clothed with rags standing in a certain place, with his face turned from his own house. In his hand he held a book, and he bore a great burden upon his back. (For my iniquities are gone over my head; as a heavy burden they are too heavy for me. -Psalm 38:4)This was such an amazing aspect for me. It enriched the reading in such a spiritual way. I applaud whoever came up with the idea to do this. I'm sure it took a lot of work and study, but it was well worth it.Pilgrim's Progress is not a quick read. It is something to be savored. To be meditated upon. I found myself reading some of the lines/paragraphs more than once. Then I would sit and close my eyes and think on it. If you allow it, it can speak volumes to your heart. What an encouragement for the Child of God! I would highly recommend reading this account of Pilgrim's Progress and feel your life will be enriched deeply in doing so.***This book was provided to me by Aneko Press in exchange for my honest review.

It should have been CLEARLY noted in the listing and description that this is NOT the original book. It is EDITED heavily by Rev. Jesse Lyman Hurlbut to "change the words here and there to simpler ones, and to OMIT ALL the conversations and arguments concerning subjects belonging to the field of doctrine." While a children's book would need simplifying, the listing is for the original ADULT book, so I'm really annoyed at this poorly listed item. The original is a true classic with SO MUCH for all of us to learn in regard to walking with God.

This is a great story with a picture on every page! It is an allegorical story following the character named Christian. Christian meets lots of people along his way to try to get rid of the burden on his back representing his sin. He cannot remove the burden on his own. Some people lead him astray and some people point him back to the right path towards Jesus and Salvation. Christian eventually reaches the cross and gives his life to Jesus. Jesus forgives his sins and the burden falls off his back into a bottomless pit and he is made new with a new identity in Christ! That is only the beginning of the story however and Christian goes on to learn what it means to live a life for God. He also eventually equips himself with the armor of God. It's a great story and one I recommend to every parent with young children! When my mother read this to me at 4 years old I gave my heart to Jesus. When Christian reached the cross I told my mom, "Mommy I want to give my burden to jesus too!" I pray this story will continue to share the gospel with many more people for years to come!

This is one of the better versions of the Pilgrim's Progress. The version is written in clear modern language. The Bible Verses are conveniently located so one can easily read and compare them to the way John Bunyan uses them in the story. (The Bible verses are actually written out not just marked) I have several versions of the Pilgrim's Progress, so I have read this story over and over many times. I would highly recommend this version and the one written by Barry Horner. Both of the books have their advantages. If you have read this story before and you really didn't get anything out of it, I would suggest you buying this version and trying it again. I have gained different insights with each and every reading.

The truth of the Holy Scriptures is not compromised in this book and for that I am very grateful. We are living in a culture where some christians believe they can do what they want to do in their lives and in the work of the church and in the worship of the church. Some think and say just let The Holy Spirit guide your lives. The Holy Spirit guides us only through the Word Of God and does not guide us to do things not written in the Holy Scriptures. This book is easy to read and to understand and is a great book to give to others. The mission of the church is to seek and save the lost and this book is a great resource to use for that mission. Very helpful study guide! This is the only study guide I use in preparation for the math 4-8 exam. I passed just this last week! (I started studying about 2 weeks before the exam...I really cranked through most of the review in the 4 days right before exam). It gives you a short, yet complete, overview of all the key concepts needed for the exam.The questions on my exam were a little different but if you knew the rules or formula to use then you would be fine. I would recommend going through all the review material they provide and making a formula sheet of your own... and at least skimming through a set of free practice questions from the TExES website. I also googled a few Kahn Academy videos when I wanted a more thorough explanation of how to solve certain problems. Overall, I am very satisfied with my purchase. I would not have passed this exam without this study guide.**Note - You ARE provided a short formula sheet on the exam, which I didn't realize until a day prior to exam, but it only includes basic area and volume formulas. Also, make sure you check out the online calculator tutorials from the TExES website so you know how to use it!

I wish it had more sample problems and better explanations. I also found some mistakes in the practice test area with the answers like on #128. Itâ€™s just a lot of money to me to spend on a study book so I expect top quality.

This is the full set of the Popeâ€™s teachings, including some sections he didnâ€™t deliver in his Wednesday audiences, with extensive cross-references to his notes, a book he wrote before becoming pope, and prior published editions. The headings make it easier to know where we are in the popeâ€™s plan of argument. Bless his heart, he got to a level where either no editor was willing to correct him or maybe he misunderstood the papal infallibility clause and thought he didnâ€™t need an editor, but his irregular use of quotation marks and highlighting to emphasize some ideas is lovingly reflected in the current edition.

An amazing book and would recommend to anyone! This needs to be taught to our teenagers/young adults. Very much makes the teachings about sex and relationships tangible for people. This provides the "why" and really allows a person to understand that there is true beauty in chastity (read: not simply abstinence)! If we could form better teaching material that follows TOB than it would be perfect for those in high school/going through confirmation. Kids nowadays need to know the "why" and not the simply "shut up and color" teachings.

Pope JPII's masterwork has been described as a time bomb ticking away in the heart of western civilization, and not likely to go off at least until the middle of the twenty-first century. It is, in fact, quite probably the most important book to be written in the past four hundred years. It directly challenges the path on which Descartes set the thinking of western civilization when he began the work (carried on by others) of separating the person into the exterior, the less important body as opposed to the truly important interior where the real me resides. The result has been a Manichaeism quite unlike anything seen since the end of the ancient world, and proving to be just as destructive of modern culture as was that antique (in both senses) system and its denigration of the physical. At times Pope JPII's masterwork casts brilliant light on everything from scriptural exegesis to philosophy to physical love, but it is at very heavy going. For that reason, to the reader unfamiliar with some of these themes I recommend Christopher West's book on the theology of the body for beginners.

This is a compilation of a series of lectures given by Pope John Paul II on the true meaning of sexuality and spousal union. It is a rather lengthy book, with lots of repetition because they are his lectures. At the beginning of each lecture, expect that he will "recap" what he discussed the previous time. It is good to read his actual words, but it requires patience to filter through the "new" material he presents because after a while you realize he is saying the same thing in different words; but, this may be required to get his message through to some readers/listeners. Each of us learns and grasps concepts differently, so his presentation of the material is geared toward universality in teaching the meaning of true spousal union as mutual self-gifting as given to us by God in the beginning before the fall in Eden. Using Scripture, JPII explains God's divine plan for human sexuality and its purpose; and he explains how objectification and selfishness in sexuality has led to a multitude of problems for society. He sees the sacramental aspect of marriage between man and woman through the eyes of Scripture. It is worth the time to read, but be patient with his repetitions, realizing that this was originally a lecture series. This book includes the "transcripts" of those lectures. Every Christian person--Catholic or not--should read his book to understand how sacred human sexuality is and how deviance destroys relationships.

I believe this is the most important teaching of our time, next to JPII's earlier work "Love and Responsibility". And there are good points to note about this edition, such as the wide margins (nice for jotting down notes), and the thick pages (so ink does not bleed through the paper).However, I did run into an issue with the binding. Just half way through reading it (after 2 months ownership), the binding cracked in multiple locations and pages fell out. None of my other books have this problem, including books I've owned for years from other publishers, but perhaps my copy was just defective. If publishers are reading this, an offering of hard cover would be nice. A work of such great importance for our time deserves a high quality binding. Thank you!

Having written software for 15 years for UNIX and Windows platforms, my move to the mobile space has been educational and humbling. Trying to learn to program for Symbian using the SDK and publicly available docs is daunting at best. The SDK docs are sparse, poorly written and provide a terrible search experience.In contrast, Symbian OS C++ for Mobile Phones provides a solid foundation for learning to program this relatively new breed of devices. It covers a lot of material in a fair amount of depth and will help newbies to ascend the steep learning curve. Without this book, those new to Symbian programming will need to scour the SDK docs, trawl the newsgroups, and rely on kind souls from the UK to help with their inevitable programming questions.I would have given this book 4 stars had it not been for several disappointing characteristics. First, there are too many authors. The writing style changes and information is repeated unnecessarily and in jarring ways. Second, the book sometimes repeats what's in the SDK docs, albeit in a consolidated form, without adding pragmatic insight and value. Third, it does not delve into some real-world, complex topics in any meaningful way. For example, the text quickly discusses messaging (SMS/MMS) but does not provide a digestible example of programmatically constructing an MMS. Fourth, it does not include Series 60 information, which is a shame given that the Series 60 is a very popular platform.All in all, this is a good book that provides relevant, helpful information that will flatten the learning curve considerably.

My title says it all. The book starts relativly good by giving an useful introduction into Symbian Programming and introducing the basic programming paradigms. I also like the chapter about how to avoid common pitfalls and about descriptors.After the example section the book goes to introduce the basic functionality of some libraries, but stays too much on the surface to deliver some advantage over reading the official documentation.Some examples (for example in the file system services part) also seem to be outdated.Not so much work seems to have gone into creating an index - it is overbloated with useless page citings. It seems as if somebody just took a number of keywords searched the document and added them directly to the index, even if the keyword at a page is not relevant at all. For example the keyword "UIDs" points to 19 different pages!My recommendation: For an introduction take a look at S60 Programming - A Tutorial Guide by Wiley (same publisher). I found that to be organized better for beginners. If you are beyond that stage, use the internet forums or the Symbian documentation.

If you were looking for a deeper discussion of Symbian for Mobile Phones than the "Programming the Series 60 platform and Symbian OS", you've come to the wrong place. "Different" would be a more accurate word. Part of the problem is that it was put together by agglomerating works from various ( 18 !) authors. The writing style shifts from first to third person and back a lot.The book rather briefly mentions Series 60 ( still the predominant UI among symbian-based smartphones ) and Series 80 ( Nokia Communicators ), and then moves on. All sample code provided by the authors ( downloadable from the books website ), is targeted strictly towards UIQ.While the number of subjects covered( UI, file system, memory handling, Bluetooth, communications ) serve their purpose, the book just seems too haphazardly composed to be easily digestable. At least they did provide a few small applets which demonstrate some of the subjects ( strings, simple drawing ) covered, before they present their version of the classic Battleship game ( which in it's favor does implement a communication stack for multiplayer use ).My ONE strong suggestion to the authors would've been not to ignore the Series 60 platform altogether. The last book for Series 60 left a lot of room for the authors of this book, to have tied the loose ends that the SDK leaves open, together.

I ordered this book because I was new to Symbian/UIQ. I found it easier and more convenient to use than the SDK on-line doc.I appreciate the battleship case-study used to illustrate the basic and intermediate Symbian/UIQ concepts. It helped me a great deal. This book also focuses on UIQ application framework. But surprisingly, I found it very scarce (as much as the SDK) on some aspects of the application framework: embedded application programming, command-line parameters processing.However still good to have it close at hand for when I need a quick info.
