I've got very tangible result from my first evocation of Haniel ... or who am I kidding ... I should be honest and say that results are nothing less then mind blowing despite the fact that during the invocation, at some point I just sensed very vague change in the air, for which I was convinced that it was only a product of my imagination. So right now, almost a day later after performing the evocation, I'm witnessing some powerful manifestations of Haniel's magick. Thank you Damon Brand and of course thank you Haniel!

I've waited a while after getting this book before writing a review because I wanted experience the results and also to gain an understanding of this magick and how it differs from other books that the GOM has published. First off, this magick is unlike anything that the GOM has published before. These archangels don't just provide you with a simple result, although there are rituals in the book to tackle specific issues. What I'm trying to say is that when you ask these Archangels for help, they respond with the cavalry. They not only give you what you asked for in many cases, but they also give you insights into yourself and your life. I performed "The advanced calling" and I did so without even knowing what result to expect, as this ritual is not meant to tackle any specific problem. The results were indeed insightful regarding certain aspects of my past and my deepest and truest desires. I also received insights and input from the angels via impressions regarding questions I had about magick itself. There's just no way for me to give a description that will do justice to the way these Archangels affect you after rituals because the results are above my head. It's as though they work on such a grand scale that what they have to offer takes time to sink in and digest. It's no wonder that Damon Brand and Adam Blackthorne encourage a "deep reading" of the text in order to get a full understanding and benefit from this book. In closing, I want to say that this is by far the most "Spiritual" magick that the GOM has shared. The GOM has published books on how to attract money, success, love, sex, and for dealing with miscellaneous situations and problems and I've nothing against such magick. In fact, I love it. That said, for those of you who believe that magick should be all about spiritual growth, self actualization, and divine/intuitive insights, then this is definitely the book for you. Highly recommended.

In the days (perhaps week) before the release of the Archangel magick book, I could feel something BIG was coming.Each of the Gallery of Magick authors have brought something different and powerful to the table. From perspectives, to the deep, raw sense of encouragement emblazoned within their works, if you give their works a real shot with full focus, I seriously doubt a few years down the line you’ll be unhappy.If you’ve read other books from Damon Brand specifically, you get a presence that is highly practical, and yet encouraging like a wise teacher. You rarely get a glimpse of Damon, in terms of his own deep personal stance on life, he dropped a big surprise in this book. There were subtle hints strewn across his books specifically, but you’ll have to find out for yourself. It took the encouragement factor that much further (didn’t know it was possible..)This book is a masterpiece. And I say that compared to each of The Gallery of Magick publications. Words cannot describe what they have assisted with in my being able to reach for AND achieve.This book, it vibrates with a heavy authenticity, as their publications often do, Archangels of magick takes this a bit further. Comprehensive details and lists of powers give you something that is both out of and in the top levels of this world.A piece of advice I give to all those that I love, ‘hone your intuition’.If at first glance you don’t have all the answers, read again with focus.Get used to ‘reaching’ out for the answer if it feels brand new to you. Take your time and see if a general sense of knowing comes over you.Be patient, do the best you can, and it will all flow into place beautifully.I never would have imagined this level of access to such spiritual growth and physical attainment, despite all of the great libraries of occult research available. For fifty years now, physics students and mature physicists have cherished a copy of the Feynman lectures on their bookshelves as a resource to be used when they wanted to go back and see a clear, elementary exposition of a difficult idea, without wading through a more advanced treatment in a graduate text, where the fundamentals would be obscured by too much generality and mathematics. What the lectures have been useless for, however, has been their purported original purpose of teaching undergraduates.There are many reasons that nobody uses the Feynman lectures as a text for a freshman physics class, but one of them has always been that the book didn't contain end-of-chapter homework problems that could be used to practice the techniques demonstrated in the text. You might think that this would be no big deal, because one could just use problems from another book. But that would be difficult because the Feynman lectures use an idiosyncratic order of topics. For example, there is a sophisticated treatment of diffraction, polarization, and antennas that comes long before any description of how to light up a light bulb with a battery. Also, the Feynman lectures introduce a lot of sophisticated techniques, such as the use of complex numbers to describe waves, and it's not necessarily easy to find a source of problems that provide practice in these techniques while hewing to a more or less freshman level of physics. This book is meant to provide the long-needed problem sets. It seems usable for its intended purpose, but I have a number of reservations.Like the Feynman lectures itself, this book is a little lumpy and uneven. For example, the problems for the very first chapter start with some purely conceptual questions, which are nice, but the problems for the later chapters focus almost entirely on mathematical calculation rather than concepts.The problems are broken up into numbered sections, but these numbers don't match the numbered sections in the Feynman lectures. This is a very unfortunate decision that makes it difficult to figure out the correlation between the text and the problems.A similar and constant source of annoyance is the lack of correlation between the numbering of the figures and the numbering of the problems. Glancing through the book, my eye is caught by a figure showing a chain being lifted off of a horizontal plane. Intrigued, I want to find the problem that this figure relates to. Well, the figure is Figure 6-2, but only by painstakingly scanning through the text of all the problems on the page can I find the relevant problem, which is 6.12.Another annoyance is the page-numbering scheme. There are no purely Arabic page numbers. Section 7 starts on a page labeled 7-1, and so on. This is the same as the scheme used in the Feynman lectures. There was a reason to do this in the era of typewriters, to avoid renumbering later pages when something was changed earlier on. There's no excuse for it in 2014.Some topics in the text don't seem to be supported at all by the problems. For example, sections 9-6 and 9-7 of the Feynman lectures demonstrate the numerical solutions of the equations of motion for Newtonian gravity. This is a really cool and forward-looking feature for a book from 1964! But the problems don't appear to provide any opportunities to try out these techniques. Again this seems to be a symptom of an unwillingness to adapt the half-century-old material to modern technology. This application would have been a natural fit for a spreadsheet.Another technology-related issue is that the answer checks are given as answers printed in the back of the book. This was the way to do this in 1964, but it's not the way to do it in 2014, when computer software can do better, e.g., by checking symbolic results as well as numerical ones. There are several free and open-source systems that do this sort of thing.In terms of accuracy, I'm not sure whether to evaluate this as a first edition released in 2014 or as a set of materials that presumably was developed in the early 1960s and that should have been thoroughly debugged since then. I found a significant error (an incorrect answer to problem 3.12) pretty rapidly, which erodes my confidence.The question to ask is who will find this book useful. It's not going to be useful to the typical older physicist who uses the Feynman lectures for reference, inspiration, and conceptual clarification. It's not going to be useful for teaching a freshman physics course using the Feynman lectures, because there are still half a dozen insuperable obstacles to that. The best use case that I can think of is the following. Sally is a community college student who was going to be an electrical engineering major, but when she took physics, she fell in love with the subject and decided to change her major to physics. She owned Physics 101, and now she intends to transfer to a school like Berkeley or MIT and get a four-year degree in physics. The trouble is, she knows her technical chops aren't adequate for upper-division courses at Berkeley. She buys a copy of the Feynman lectures and a copy of this book, and works through it.

This latest in Marco's Delphi series is a must-have for anyone who is serious about rapid Microsoft Windows systems development. In contrast to most, perhaps all, of the technical books dealing with creative development, this one is very readable, and more to the point immediately useful.The rich code samples are immediately applicable to today's right-now applications, with background material that is succinct and helpful.It's still applicable today for one simple reason: Delphi is still the fastest and most reliable way to build robust Windows applications, bar none. The economic impact of this simple fact is why Delphi is still being used today, despite Borland's self-induced problems, and will continue to be used for the same reason for as long as Win32 is around - probably a long, long time indeed.DISCLAIMER: Borland wanted to do a case study on my company's use of Delphi, even after I told them I thought that their marketing department was brain dead. They compiled and published the case study, but I still believe that their marketing department is brain dead.

My copy is already getting dog-eared with use. Very well-written, Mastering Borland Delphi 2005 is another winner in a winning series by the author. For those of us making the transition to .Net with Delphi, the book details many advantages of using vcl.net in that transition. My D2005 IDE setup is much better thanks to the book's tips & tricks for IDE options. Very nice book covers many of the new features of the specific Delphi edition, with deep coverage of VCL controls and database aspects.... it would be nice if there was more coverage on topics like interproccess communication on Windows OS.... But anyway this book worths it's money....

I found the book attractive and easy-reading. Marco Cantu boosts Delphi learner's expectations again, with this Mastering Delphi 2005 edition. The author makes learning Delphi a gentle issue, as if he's chating with you personally. Definitely, the book is a better choice for learning Delphi.

This book is outdated, but is still a good book covering Delphi and VCL.

I'm learning Delphi and this book has been a big help. It's been a long time since I done any programming. This book has eased me back into programming.

I am pretty disappointed by this book as I bought Mastering Delphi 7 by Marco. The .NET topics are hardly covered. Furthermore, the ECO chapter is only introductory. More would have been good. I also do not see much "new" with the book for the topics that have changed from Delphi 7 to Delphi 2005. A lot of chapters have been revised, but it still does not seem as "round" as the book for Delphi 7.Marco offers new chapters that deal with changes from Delphi 2005 to Delphi 2006 on his webpage, which is quite nice. However, I doubt I'll buy any other book in this series as the number of changes made do not justify the price.If you have Mastering Delphi 7, I'd stay with that and use blogs and other online sources for the changes and buy a book that focuses on .NET instead (Xavier Pacheco e.g.).

If you had to purchase just one book on photo restoration this is the one. If you own one of the earlier editions this is an incremental improvement. Another reviewer was disappointed and if you owned one of the earlier editions this will not be all new content for you. It is worth buying and I own all of the three prior editions. The authors provide you the practice files and the steps necessary to begin restoring and retouching photos. If you work through the book you will become a capable restoration artist and have all of the tools necessary for photo restoration. If you purchase this with Ctein's book and Wolper's book you will have all of the photo restoration library you need. Each book is very good but these to me are the three best on the subject of photo restoration. If you are interested in photo retouching there are other books that focus solely on that subject but the treatment of it in the 4th edition is good. I have waited for the 4th edition and understand why some owning the earlier editions might hope for an entirely new book but frankly not a lot has changed with the software and techniques of photo restoration. I was hoping that the book would devote a little more pages to especially thorny photo restoration issues and problems.

Having and having enjoyed Ms Eismann's earlier books, I placed an order for this book over a year ago. Upon receiving this book, I started at page 1 expecting to learn and enjoy again. Shocked, I went page after page and found zero new ideas/techniques (albeit with some new images), and worse, found zip useful. Less book topic relevant info than earlier books by a good measure.Admittedly, I have now read other Photoshop books, but this also allows me to say that dozens of other Photoshop books better cover topics attempted in this book, by a long measure.The central problem is that this book's goal seems to be to cover much of of Photoshop's massive waterfront of capabilities, and ends up sadly and very superficially covering any topic or user problem usefully. Far better would have been to focus exclusively on Restoration and maybe retouching (the before/after of retouching show little improvement) in some depth.Ms. Eismann is very talented and experienced, but this is a wasted effort. I think she teaches so maybe this book is an expanded course outline for her students. If so, each chapter is at best a pointer for the student to focus elsewhere to learn the chapter's topic.As I said, I purchased being very excited, and am now very disappointed and returning the book. Of the many hundreds of books I have purchased at Amazon, I have never returned a book.

This is an excellent book. Well written and comprehensive. In this, the 4h Edition, Katrin Eiesmann and her associate writers have brought the earlier editions up to 2018; software, supplies, and techniques. If you are into photo restoration and retouching it is great. Besides the writer’s excellent knowledge and skill set, there are tips and tricks salted through the text from additional expert associates. One Caveat, you must be “Photoshop” savvy in order to effectively use the material in this text. The authors make it clear in the intro that this document is not intended as a primer. I owned the first two editions and was absolutely amazed at the techniques and processes. Back around the 2001-2003 period when the first two editions came out, they were a breath of fresh air for me. I was transitioning from the "wet darkroom" to the "digital." Katrin's text really convinced me that it was the way to go.

If you are into improving your photos with Photoshop or want to restore some old photos that have suffered the ravages of time, then this is your book (or should I say bible). First of all, the authors alone should attract you to this book. Katrin Eismann has published several books on this subject already, is an internationally known and respected photographer, teacher and has been inducted into the Photoshop Hall of Fame. Wayne Palmer has a lifelong passion for photography including field, darkroom and classroom experience. Dennis Dunbar has worked as the Photoshop guru on many movie posters and commercial images. He has also conducted workshops around the world sharing professional insights on retouching and compositing. As you can see, this represents a stellar bank of knowledge about restoration and retouching. If they haven’t done it, then it doesn’t exist.The book starts off looking at the user’s workplace and workflow. Since restoration and retouching can be a time-consuming process, the authors look at the retouching environment and lighting and provide some information on physical setup. Computer considerations are covered next providing some recommendation on computer speed, RAM, hard drive space, monitor, pressure sensitive tablets, backup systems and printers, etc. As you can see, they consider all the items that might affect the user’s restoration and retouching efforts.Next, input to the restoration process is considered. Part of that consideration includes such things as the condition of the photo to be restored. Can it be scanned or photo-graphed, is it dry, wet, rodent infested, does it have fungus, etc.? A number of suggestions to overcome problems such as these, are presented.Having successfully input the photos to be restored into the computer, a considerable amount of space is now devoted to handling the photos in Photoshop or Lightroom. I should mention that this book includes the ability to access and download photos that need retouching or restoration. Thus, the reader will not be left high and dry due to the lack of suitable photos that need restoration on which to practice. Also, there is a section of the book that shows the reader what can be done in the restoration area using Photoshop Elements. There is a considerable amount of information in this book on the use of Photoshop and Elements which, alone, is worth much more than the price of the book. These experts leave nothing undone.As stated at the beginning of this review, if you are at all interested in restoration, retouching, or simply doing a better job on processing your photos, this is the book for you. Considering the experience of the three authors and their collective ability to teach the subject, you could not be in better hands.
